Default Big buck perfect storm

Thoughts on the “red moon” and the affects it has on hunting big bucks. Looking at things, looks like a perfect storm these last 5 days of October.(it usually is but) Is this the year multiple booner bucks hit the ground on this epic 10 days.

I have not taken note of the red moon as a indicator of movement but I don’t like full moons as they effect daylight movement. I have considered comparing the red moon theory to what I see on my trail cams next year. I will compare it for fun with low expectations

Lots of things effect movement wind, rain, and snow being big ones. That break after a storm is golden

As for the last few days of October they are ok but not my choice. First 2 weeks of September for bucks you have patterned and the middle 2 weeks of November for the rut and calling. Around November 20th I will also see an increase in the roaming stranger bucks that I have no history with

But even at that I have found slight differences in timing in deer populations within 1hr of eachother

For humor I will pay attention to the action of my cams for the last 5 days of October and see what I notice. I bet the highest level of daylight movement I see of mature bucks will be after November 10th and the younger bucks will pick up after November 5th

This is just some trends I have noticed

So reviewing some of my cams my verdict on the red moon is not worth paying attention to. Bucks still moving in the dark and no unexpected increases in movement

Now I will place bets the trend of and increase in small buck movement starting any day now and come Nov 10-15 I will see a big increase in daylight movement of mature bucks as I have in past years

Scouting and taking note of past trends cannot be substituted for paying attention to the red moon in my opinion

I can say for a fact that you can get a really good idea on buck movement throughout the year in an area if you invest multiple years of scouting. You also can start to predict where the mature bucks begin to appear seasonally too

My main hunting holidays are booked for 11-24th because of knowledge of trends from previous years

I've booked the same time off as well.

Good luck to all.

Yep! Always the 3rd week if you want to kill a big deer

I used to ask my buddy if he wants to go fishing. He looked at whatever he looked and said that the moon something something that day. I went and caught fish, he stayed at home on the couch. Eventually, I stopped asking and went and caught fish and he stayed at home on the couch. Both of us were happy with our choices, lol. I know I was happier though because eventually he also got up from the couch and went and caught fish with me or by himself.

Pretty sure it works the same with deer and other animals.
