Default New research on rock snot

A new study suggests that rock snot is caused by native algae species responding to environmental conditions and is not the result of human introductions.

It will be interesting to see if there are more studies to support this research.

For many years N.American has a war on with phosphorous removing it from clothes washing soaps and other domestic sources. I recall being involve with in an anti-P04 campaign in the late '60's.
Maybe all pollution is not bad. I've watched the bug life crater on the Crow as it got the nutrient load removed.

Maybe slipping some P04 into the sewer effluent is not a bad thing.

this would explain a lot of what I've seen with didymo. For example, far more didymo upstream of bonnybrook than below.
