Its interesting though. Results suggest that 73% are in support of the ruling which flies in the face of some of the narratives spun by the media during the course of this debate. I think any info like this helps the cause and helps to counter all the extra attention the anti's get. Might not be binding but every bit of support helps sell the idea.

I think the headlines and stereotypes dont match reality. Some how british columbians get painted as eco nut hippies driving priuses but in reality most people across canada are fairly reasonable.

That ridiculous mayor of burnaby in no way represents the average burnaby resident.. the headlines come from that guy and all the enviro nut groups. Burnaby, port moody etc are rooted in heavy industry and petroleum refining/distribution.

Judging from the wording of the question, the must be wanting people to vote 'no'.

My guess is that the results of their poll don't get reported.

The Tyee reporters must be from the Tree Planting days of clear cut argument. Here is there report on Kinder Morgan.

What are the bylaws in question? And were they just created recently by the Burnaby government to add more hoops to jump through?

The media reports the results of their polls to somebody ?!?!

Think again!

The Vancouver Sun is a newspaper. When they 'report' something, they do so by printing it in their newspaper.

IMO, they will only report the results of the poll (ie print the results in their paper ) if they get the result that they want.

Judging from the loaded question, I think that they are trying to get a 'no' vote. But, from the looks of the responses so far, they will not be getting the negative result that they want. Hence, I don't think that they will be reporting the results (ie. printing them in the paper).

Hope that helps.
