Default Best shore fishing for a first timer?

Hey all,

I'm taking my nephew shore fishing for the first time this Saturday. Does anyone have any advice on a good small lake close to Calgary? Looking for trout.

I'm thinking Chain lakes or Winchell might be good possibilities. Winchell hasn't produced well for me lately though.

Any others recommended spots would be appreciated.

Cheers

Chain lakes is a good choice, fish from the provincial park and you can catch an easy limit. Use corn or shrimp(corn works the best) on a dropper loop set up. Keep the hook size at around size 8-10. A bite detector or bell works helps a lot when it comes to detecting the bites. You can also use small spinners and spoons from shore they work great too. The wind there can get pretty nasty so dress warmly.
