I just got an ultimate ez press. It's a compression press and can do pretty much everything including crossbows. Some bows need limb tip adaptors if they are way beyond parallel, but will even do most longer target bows to complete break down, but everyone has their own favorites

it really depends on how much tuning you will be doing. For the average person, a mounted press just isn't worth the 6 7 or 8 hundred bucks, but something like the bow-a-constrictor or a bowmaster portable press, they definitly are worth the hundred bucks or so, and everyone should have em for emergency repairs or restringing in the field, so it kind of depends on how much and for what you are going to be using it for, but yes, some sort of press is a must have for tuning, at least giving a cable a twist or two or installing a peep sight, or string silencers...

The bow-a is in the higher end of bow presses. Got mine with the Quick-draw tune accessory. It out does all those presses as far as adjust ability goes, Takes a bit longer than the ez-press, but not much.

IMHO a bow tune starts with the bow being in manufacturer spec tune first...strings stretch regardless of who makes them and bows get seriously out of specs...
A press is needed to spec tune..yokes, string and cable have to be twisted to bring specs in..they effect...poundage ,draw, idler/cam lean, cam rotation or alignment, ATA, Brace height, list goes on...
