Default Volquartsen 17 WSM-Anyone used one?

I'm looking to upgrade from my Ruger 10/22 to something semi auto and a bit bigger, but I'm not a fan of black guns.
Mostly target shooting and the occasional Gophergeddon.

Does anyone have any experience with a Volquartsen IF-5 in 17 WSM?

Do they hold their value well?
Wanstalls Customs has the Volquartsen IF-5 Deluxe in 17 WSM with a thumbhole stock for $2400.

I look forwards to reading everyones opinions!

Or any thoughts on 17WSM or Volquartsen in general?

Will you see much better accuracy out of a bolt action?

I owned a Volquartsen 22lr, and it was more accurate than many bolt actions. It was also very reliable, no feeding issues at all. I have some experience with a few rifles in 17wsm, and the cartridge does not impress me at all. Accuracy was not great in any of the rifles, and the ballistics fall far short of the 17hornet. Personally, I am thinking that the 17wsm will fade away like the 17mach2, and finding ammunition might be difficult in ten or fifteen years.

Friend has the savage 17wsm with the target barrel and thumbhole stock. Where my 17 hmr (savage bsev)makes gophers do backflips, his sends them 5ft high, turns them inside out or leaves them headless - it’s an absolute laser beam out to 100 meters.

I have heard negative reviews on other 17 wsm models, so curious as well if anyone has experience with the volquartson

I’ve owned one in 22mag. It was an honest 1/2 MOA at 100 yard gun.

Very accurate. I had one issue but when I contacted Volquartsen they sent the part I needed without issue.

A sign of a good company.
