The Lodge is reporting 2 Tyee class fish to the same boat today.
It sounds like things are starting to kick in hard .

I can't wait to get back out there in the AM . A whirlwind trip to Calgary has kept me on my toes. But by 10:30 in the AM I will be back. Gota love how easy it is to get out there.

As well, sounds like our most recent AO group put some EXTREMLY serious time in today . But they can share that story. I wish I was able to be out there with those guys .

Dons boat hit the salmon hard today, very nice fish.
We had an awesome first day 5 salmon, limit of Hali's, some rock fish and 2 snapper (one was 16lbs). The weather was amazing our guide was incredible and worked his butt off looking after the four of us newbies. Spent 16 hours on the water and the alarm goes off in 5 hours. Looking forward to day 2, sad it's going to be our last already. But I am sure we are going to make a ton of memories again.

Good night all

That's a monster day on the water. I would imagine you all slept like rocks. This is not a easy trip with only 2 days and early season. You guys are troopers!!!
Perhaps today the Salmon gods will smile on you.
See you later today. I am just boarding my flight to Rupert.

Great morning so far for our guests.
Not only did the young man hit his first Tyee yesterday, but he followed it up with number 2 this AM.

A good amount of XXl sized fish around. This bodes EXTREMLY well for this year.

On a personal note, Dad and I nailed a double header about 20 min ago.
Nice Chinook on one side and a Hali on the other.
That's a new one to me.

Jamie

Default Just got back from Nanoose bay area, fishing was Hot!

Did a quick trip to visit my Dad who fishes regularly out of Schooner cove on the east side by Parksville. Fishing was exellent, we hammered lots of Springs from 8lbs -30lbs. Last day was the best by far, kept 4 springs and released another 10+ which were keepers.

So what's the sockeye forecast for the year? What on earth happened last year to cause such a nasty decline? Are the river gill net folk bent on annihilating the species or what happened?

Yeah,

he has been living the dream there for 30 years, and fishing almost every day possible for that long as well.

Best fishing i have seen since early 1990's for that part of the island, I guess the day after i left his fishing partner landed a 34lber and a 29lber that morning!

Going to be a smoking year by the looks of it! You should have some very happy customers!

A better day than what I was lead to expect.

Not only a season record, but a new Lodge record on Coho.

Last few days have been outstanding

-Season record Chinook
-Season record Hali
-Season a new Lodge record Coho

Not bad for a few days work.

Book your trip to get in on the fun

Update, sorry for long responses but fishing season is mighty busy, as owner/operators/guides, we are busy bees, but it also means on the water we make sure we do everything we can to give you the best trip and fishing.

So...FISHING IS AWESOME!!!! Literally everyday we have LIMITED OUT BY 8AM FOR CHINOOK...that is 8-10 Chinook IN the boat...nevermind those lost. Avg size so far is about 18lbs, which is slightly lower than average for this time of the year normally, but still very good. As we go the avg will only go up and up. Three days in a row we started fishing for Chinook by 630 am, and by 745am we had 10 Chinook in the boat....doesn't get much better than that.

Halibut avg so far is about 40lbs-45lbs for the over 90cm fish. That's a good average, released a 120lb halibut three days ago then proceeded to tag out on halibut between 45-64lbs. Here are some pictures below...today was blowing SE 25 yet we still tagged out on Chinook by 815am and then went and limited out with 12 Lingcod per boat. Always got places to fish with our big boats.

ENJOY THE PICS! AND AO FISHING DERBY 2015, GET AHOLD OF ME ASAP to get your spot, most likely July 8-11 of 2015. 4 Full days fishing!

all halibut 35-55lbs

Salmon so thick here in Rupert that we are fighting to get down deep enough and quick enough to escape the large Coho.

I guess this really is a first world problem.

Lots of fish and perfect Halis around.

Some killer last minute rates and dates left.
Prices as low as $1750/person.

Call me today, get in your truck and experiance all that Great Pacific Salmon Lodge can offer.

Here is GPSL Tyee from last week.

Our group caught 3 tyee in 4 days, as well a number of Chinook in the 18-25 range.

The Coho are starting to get big as well. Our biggest was 15lbs.

One of our guys had a trip of a life time. His 4 Chinooks were 31,31,18,13. Coho 15, 12, 10, 10. Hali 60 and 18

If you are looking for some rod action, Coho this year could be unreal. GPSL had there lodge record broken in the end of June at 17 lbs, but as big as they are now I would not be surprised that a 20 pounder is caught this year.
