Default Fly fishing Grande Prairie area

I'm starting to put together a wishlist of rivers and streams within a 2.5 hour drive of GP for trying this summer. I'm interested in any feedback that you veterans may be able to provide. I have a good 4x4, but no quad. I love hiking and don't mind a bit of bushwhacking if required.

Last year I made it out to Sheep Creek by Grande Cache and Kakwa River about 20 km from the bridge at Hwy 40 and both were fantastic for RMW, grayling, and bullies. I also tried the Murray river and Monkman Lake by Tumbler ridge, but had no luck there.

On my list for this year:

Cutbank river from the highway to the falls. Is there a trail to hike along the river to get to the falls, or do you need to take one of the quad trails/cutlines through the bush?

Torrens river past Two Lakes. I understand it's great for cutthroat. Does anyone have details for accessing this? I've been out to Two Lakes a few times, but not beyond.

Kakwa river just below the falls.

Nose creek. Do you access this off of the Two Lakes road or from the Canfor service road?

Lone Teepee creek and Muskeg river southeast of Grande Cache. I'll be camping at Pierre Grey's Lakes at least once this summer so would like to hit up one of these creeks. Which would you recommend?

I would put red rock creek on that list if you have a 4x4. Lots of small grayling and few bulls and grizzlies.

Saltmania, I have fly fished the Torrens a great deal pm me for details and i can hook you up with what ever info you require, i have also fished the Red Rock, Kakwa,Nose,Cutbank, and yes there is like a freaking highway to Cutbank falls, you should run into about 100 quads if you were to walk in there. Torrens still my favorite by far, although my honey hole on the Kakwa is pretty sweet as well.

Do you have any interest in floating the lakes in your area, Saltmania?

SKUNKED ON THE MURRAY!!

Joking aside...I have fished every fishable creek and river south of GP, some only by helicopter (the best). I can point you in the direction of some stellar spots....

Only the major rivers or creeks have decent size to them...Smokey, Wapiti, Narraway, Kakwa, Lower Kakwa, Belcourt, Sheep, Red deer Creek, Sukunka river...These all hold bulls over 10lbs.

Some super fun creeks....Gunderson(east of two lakes) Upper Nose(by valley creek) Red rock(where little and big redrock meet and further down to kakwa)
Upper cutbank, south cutbank(falls suck). Bull creek, Prairie creek, Torrens (3 falls and many pools)........

Keep a eye out for SWEET fossils on most of the creeks mentioned...Dinos roamed these parts.....

PM me for specific info on these gems and dozens more!! But i warn you...I will most likely tell you to pack allot of water and start hiking!
