Default Coffee machine drip

So after many years of using pod coffee makers I've decided to go with a good old drip coffee maker. So many to look at . Don't want to spend a ton of $ . Any suggestions and inputs? Thanks

Honestly I would say look at a French press…

I’m not sure what there are for drip coffee makers, but they are never the same taste as a press (if you do it right)

Honestly the “Hamilton Beach Flexbrew” works pretty good you get the best of both worlds.

I have a Bialetti Moka pot, grind my own beans. Makes a superb cup. And they never wear out. Like the old camp stove perk. They run $40 or $50 bucks now, used to be half that. Like everything else.

X2 for stove top espresso, moka pot

For drip coffee I like the ones that hold the filter and coffee above your cup and you pour the hot water into them and make one cup at a time.

If you are looking for something small (3 - 4 cups) I have one that you can have. If you are ever driving through Rocky you can pick it up.

You can make espresso, for sure, but I also do a pour-over Americano. Which is a fancy way of saying making a really good strong cup of black coffee. Just pour hot water over your espresso shot. Works grand.

Similar idea to what Twisted Canuck suggested and of course it’s about doubled in price since I bought mine but a fantastic quality piece of kit and makes a great strong coffee. I use the Costco espresso beans.

Get you a Vietnamese coffee maker, it’s sits on top of a cup.
I’ve been using the same one for 25:years. Cost is about 10 bucks.

Costco sells a really good cuisinart drip coffee pot. It’s even programmable so that it turns on at a set time so you wake up to hot coffee in the morning. I’ve had it for a few years and it’s been flawless so far.

I bought this one about six months ago. I am happy with it so far.

*You can use ground coffee to make a pot
*You can use beans and it will grind them for you to make a pot
*You can use pods if you want a single cup

I have found it easy to clean as well. On sale doesn't hurt either.

I’ve had the same perk style coffee pot for years now, best way in my opinion. Fill the canister full, boil till it good and strong then over to the wood stove to keep hot for the morning.

If you like it strong and black that’s the way. Other people in the house use a dripper, won’t touch mine.

I bought a el cheapo from walmart, complete with timer for $29.95, when mine stopped working, and I couldn't afford a real good one because of financial issues. I still have it after 10 years and the results are always good. I guess it depends on the manufacturer they get it from.

Also - sometimes I use my metal "camp coffee" pot on the stove. It actually tastes better than any "drip" maker.

We use a good old Cuisinart drip coffee maker. It has a clock built in so we can set a start time and wake up to coffee ready to go. Not a big deal most days, but it's nice on those early fishing/hunting mornings when you can get up and go without waiting for it to do it's thing. My wife is an ER RN as well, so lots of early morning shifts.

One of the most important aspects of a good cup of coffee is to grind your own beans.

Invest in a coffee grinder, experiment with grinder settings and bean varieties and the cheapest drip coffee maker will produce excellent results from freshly ground beans.

Personally I use the Baratza Encore grinder, quality entry level grinder.

Broke the drip coffee pot a year ago and grabbed the old tin camp stove percolator for that morning's emergency use,

Still using the camp stove today.
Good quality home ground beans and it is better/richer than any good drip machine.

I know you said you didn't want to put a bunch of money into a coffee maker - but I am convinced a great coffee maker will change your world !!!!

Especially if you enjoy a good cup of coffee as much as we do - for some people it's a good cigar, or scotch or something where you have a discerning taste for the good stuff. Coffee is that in our household.

We purchased a Technivorm Mochamaster (and yeah they are pricey) but you get super high quality coffee with it's precise metering, temperature and non reactive metal screens that you wouldn't believe it.

We drink coffee every day - all of us in the home - so it's not something that you bought and rarely use - it's daily. I feel the same way about a high quality BBQ.

Just worth the money.
