Default Ice Electronics Question...

I bought a Marcum LX7 a couple years back and am happy with it. Lots of buzz with the Panoptix/Livescope live imaging stuff. Can't afford moving to the Livescope/Livescope+ but am looking at some used Panoptix units and am wondering if that is something I should look to do or just stick with the LX7. Fish for walleye and pike in Central AB as well as Lakers up north. Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Livescope is worth it if you can afford it.

I had a LX7 for years also going after Lakers . I have never used a live scope yet . Maybe one day . I gather they have a wider foot print so you can see more fish on the bottom . .
I had an old $150. sonar years ago off my boat that i used for ice fishing and that had a 100 yard foot print in 80 ft of water . The guys I were fishing with did not believe me un till I got them to set up 50 yards away . I would shout out if their hooks were going down or up . Then they believed me . When it broke i got the lx7 and I am lucky to get a 10 yard foot print in 80 ft of water I could not even see my dead stick hook just out side my tent .Lol
Not sure way Marcum LX7 could not have a better foot print on the sonar setting, and be able to use it outside in the sunlight .
I never did like like the flasher mode .

Panoptix actually has better range than LiveScope, which would make it better for Laker fishing. Not as clear a picture, but better range. I'd say pick it up if you can. There are probably some really good deals on it at this point.
