Default Big bait=big fish, not always.

Wabamun today no hits on big baits but lots on a jig with a small junk of mackeral, including a 44" 25lb fatty.

Jebus that's a porky pike!

Well done sir!

That being said, I've often found the same thing...sometimes they just want what they want.

Looking at that pike, that's probably all she had room for left in that gut!

In the same context at wabamun I caught a 21" pike on a 15" bait. Wrap your head around that one!

great looking Pike...

Its weird cause we were there a couple weeks ago and all our hits came on the larger baits...

Awesome pike!...

When I was using regular smelts on a jig head a couple years back, I landed a fat 36" pike out of there. But just last month, I caught my personal best pike out of that lake which I believe was about a 40 incher on a large 8" herring.

we hit a hammer handle yesterday on an 8" herring and it was all the way down his throat....luckily the hook wasnt as deep and i could release him clean and quick

no rhyme nor reason to bait size vs fish size most of the time if you ask me....i like the smaller baits purely based on easier hook sets.

Good fight and very challenging to land. 10"hole , 11-12inches of head and nearly 9 inches back to belly.
