Smile The Necromancer Fly

I meant to post this before Halloween. But the day after will have to do.

I've tied this fly a few times over the years. It's a bugger to tie. The head alone takes about an hour to prep. Grinding it in half, plus drilling a hole through it. Then tying the articulated fly takes about an hour or more. It's fun to see the results though. Pike really kill this one. I've never used it for musky. But I imagine they would have the same reaction as the pike do.

Great name!!!!

I can see where pike would be all over that fly. The head style would certainly push a lot of water and give the fly a "death throe" action.

Well done

I get the skulls at Micheal's craft store. However they are round and I have to cut them in half and drill the hole in them dremmel. They take a lot of work. But the results speak for themselves. It's not your average fly.

Thanks guys. Some guys use them and other people put them out for a display at their tying station. I even have one order for a pink and chartreuse one that a guy wants to hang from his truck mirror. To each his own. I have used them for ice fishing pike and casting from my boat. The pike really hammer them on the way down. They are time consuming to make. But 10 out of 10 on the cool factor. It's great to let the creative juices flow.
