Question Barrel Length and Muzzle Velocity

Just a quick question. What will the velocity lose be going from a 26'' barrel to a 24'' barrel for the 7mm Rem Mag.

Thanks again everyone for your help

Usually about 30-50fps/inch

Dependant on many things like the loading, and the particular barrel.

YMMV as always.

Yep, as much as 20 or 30 fps per inch and as little as nothing.

Are we talking cutting a 26 down to a 24? Then you would lose 25-50fps per inch. If we are talking about different barrels it seems like it is luck of the draw, depending as much on chamber and internal dimensions as barrel length.

Use the powley calculator at

http://kwk.us/powley.html

Select the cartridges list and it will fill in the 7 mm rem mag info.

150 gr is 51 fps loss
