ATV’s and bear hunting.
I kicked up a fair bit of eltorro Pooh Pooh the other day about the hastily imposed ATV ban.
Emails were fast and furious, and voila!

So if I read that correct if I have a bear tag in my pocket and a rifle 24 cal or bigger the OHV ban doesn't apply to me?

Many people carry a short barreled shotgun anyways when taking their ATV out, so now they just have to purchase a black bear license.

Always will be. Always has been.
Don’t like it then don’t do it, imposing your own value system upon others isn’t a healthy way of going through life.
Seeing as it’s written into the ministerial order, it’s the way it is.

I picked up my tag and was out most of yesterday on mine doing some scouting hoping to see some sign. Still lots of snow here so it may be a week or two before they get active.

They say anything about fishing? Why would it be any different than hunting bear?

wow and you wonder why it is just one buggered up place eh.....one states OHV ban in areas and then OHV ban doesn't apply if you have a bear tag in hand....a freakin' fire is a fire....if the guberment is so worried about a possible fire and then a repeat of fort MacMurray/slave lake fires a possibility toss in the pandemic then shut it down......if a fire starts and towns etc get evacuated where do they go??? who fights the fires??? without spreading the virus???
what a cluster eh!

I saw nothing about fishing, which your licence is good for till when?
Bear season had already started and a lot of folks had already started baiting and the season only runs till June 15th.
I know I requested a refund on my licence and incurred costs since the season was already running...... I think that’s why the bear hunting exemption as I’m sure many others took the same position. Also I kept asking why are outfitters exempt, since I’m doing the same thing as them.

Privileges for a select few. How stellar. Lots of other people would like to enjoy the outdoors on their OHV’s....

Son's girl friend is working near Christina Lake, no sign of bears yet. I'm thinking first week of May, easily.

Lol all good. The idiocy in our world needs some humour injected into it at times.

Unfortunately my county, in its infinite wisdom, instantly implemented it's own ohv ban as soon as the provincial order was lifted.

Do you have a copy of your counties ban, or a link to it?
N other words which County?

Thank you very much for posting this information. It definitely clears things up. I was pretty concerned about it.
The info we received was that ESRD was concerned about the bear harvest and thus this was implemented to hit those harvest targets.
