3 on 3 and the SO are gimmicks, that's why they aren't used in the playoffs. The loser point distorts the standings. It results in teams playing for the tie instead of going all in for the win. Get rid of it!

agree ditch the loser points they might actually try to win the game.

I suppose so, but ever so slightly. If you minus the loser point from the standings in the East, Florida and Boston switch, and in the West, St. Louis and Minnesota (who are only a point apart to begin with) switch, that's he only difference.

I used to not like it, but it makes such a minor difference, it doesn't really matter to me anymore. Kinda feel if San Jose is tied with Florida after 60, then lose in overtime, they may actually deserve a point vs the same end result if they get blown out 8-0.

I like the 3 on 3 and shoot out for the regular season, but I really dislike the loser point and ties. Keep the format but eliminate the extra point, make teams work a little harder for their points.

This.
5 hour hockey games are a little much. Especially game 4 of regular season. Get it over with.

Thank you ELK , Just saying I like the other way more ,the total defensive side isn't what I want to pay to see a hockey game if I spend my cash ,I want all out hockey ,All out or nothing. Die by the sword or win by it ,bigger thrill that's all.

The bad side is longer games ,but that's what hockey was like years ago.

Mattias Ekholm has a plus/minus of +60 since joining the Oilers a year ago, leading the NHL.

We were in Nashville for a few days in October, 2021. The wife wanted to go to a trendy little area to do some shopping. I sat in a coffee shop nearby. Attached to the light posts were various banners of Predator players, Sarros, Jossi, etc. I'm looking at Ekholm's banner and thinking "Man, that guy would look good as an Oiler". 18 months later, it came to be. Not sure I can do that again Oiler fans but it's fun to think about every now and then.

The loser point does distort the standings.

A moot point because they are in different divisions but Calgary had 1 more point than Florida had last year and missed the playoffs. Florida went to the SC final. If your team misses the playoffs because of a loser point you wont be happy.

Boston is in first place in their conference because of loser points. Without those 15 loser points they are in 4th

Thanks .JB Yes boston has 15 ,florida 4 in second place ,that's a 11point swing .So for those who think it doesn't mean much first place in your division come playoffs can make a big difference going forwards .

You just watch teams that get these ties and just lay back and take the point.

Your paid big cash to play ,why not play at your peck for 60 minutes instead of 45 to 50. the whole deal of a tie is the rush of seeing the tie broken.

The fans go wild or get very silent ,that's what it it's all about.

Careful what you wish for. The Oilers are dynamite in overtime and I often see them playing for the tie. I would rather see the other team slack off hoping for the loser point than push at the end.

The Oilers D suck under pressure like the end of a game or even a period. Get it to OT and the odds are in their favour.

Awesome! You’ll have fun. Bear in mind everything is pretty expensive. But there is a lot better selection compared to the old barn.

Another slow start but when the wheels got rolling it was an old fashioned beat down, even Brown got another one

50 for Hyman is great, happy for him, but the 2 points is really what's important and looks like it just slipped away

If the regular season meant anything other than making it into the playoffs, you might as well just give the Stanley Cup to the Presidents Trophy winner.

Solid effort last night, big 4 point game, pushed LA down to the 2nd wildcard team and inched closer to the nucks for 1st place, 6 points back with 2 games in hand down the stretch we go
