Default reloder 17/270 win

Wondering who has tried this in the the .270 win? I am considering h 100v hybrid or other newer powders out there.I have always used the 4831's and 4350's with great success. Any advantage with this Alliant product? Thanks

I have, you get good velocity gains with it.
There are lots of powders now that sit in the 4350-4831 window that you mentioned

Thanks for the reply, Their load data shows no increased velocity over h 4831' etc for me with any of the bullet weights.I don't know if their data is conservative like most every bullet/powder maker

I was running a 130 gr bullet at 3150 fps from a 24" barrel, which isn't "light speed" but faster than the 3050 fps I had from H4350. Both were accurate enough but the slower load more so. Primers looked the same. Flat. No bolt lift issues.

Man, I just don't know that you can improve on 60 gr H4831. Just make sure to use shortcut and it will FEEL like you are using a newer powder. Be sure to work up though.

RL17 is scarce.

If you are in Edmonton and come over, I will be happy to give you enough to satisfy your curiosity

I get 3130 average with imr 4350/barnes 129 gr lr @60*F and this a 1/2 grain under listed max, but I like 62 h 4831' even better both are easy on brass .*62 gr 4831 comes to the bottem of the neck with hornady brass and to the top with federal.62 is a hornady listed max for hornady stuff.Does R 17 meter well and does it fill the column?

There was nothing scarce about rl17 6months ago when wholesale sports had it on sale and everyone backed up the truck.
The 270 load runs 54-55gr for similar velocities as the powders above.
It has worked well in the 260 rem, 6.5/284, cartridges for me. Ones with high load densities...probably the wsms too, not that I own any.

It isn't magic or special, but has its place.
If you are getting great accuracy and great velocities with your current load, there is nothing a different powder can improve on.
It meters fine, slightly shorter sticks than a imr4350
