Default CCI minimags wax coating

Some of this years offerings in CCI minimags in boxes of 300 have given me problems with large gobs of hardened paraffin like wax hanging on the bullets, preventing the from easily coming out of the tray.
Performance in my Cz455 and CZ453 was about 3-4 inch groups.
More normal looking bullets shot about 1.5 - 2 inch groups at 50 yards.
WW power points do .4-.6 inch groups.
Will try talk to CCI rep to see what he can do if anything. I would like to return the shells, costing me $33.00 per box of 300 rather pricey.

Typically the industry us Carnauba wax to lube bullets.
Harmless, but a an if it is laid on too thick!

Can you simply wipe the excess wax off with a cloth? I would be surprised if the CCI rep does anything as I would think it could be easily fixed by the consumer. They are also not in the position where they need to find clientele in our geographical location to purchase from them.

Berger boy,
The wax is hard, tough to wipe of. Would need to warm up the loaded rounds and may be lay it on absorbent towel, then when warm enough rub it between layers of paper towel to get rid of most of the wax.
Question is how much is supposed to stay on?

I think only a very small layer for lubrication. I hope this is a localized issue with one box and not the entire last shipment. Good luck, I think if you find some xylene, you can use it to remove the wax.

I had the same thing on a brink of CCI ammo I bought a few months ago. The wax itself is pretty hard on the bullet so I needed to force them out of the tray, shaving off wax. Definitely couldn't wipe it off.

I was shooting them out of my Savage Mark ii, and the gun hated it. It clogged the gun up and I had ejection issues with it consistently, until I switched ammo. I'm a newbie, so I don't know much besides my dislike of CCI for that reason alone.

Contact cci with your issues and include pictures. Usually Ammo companies are good about that stuff and will replace it without issue! My only bad experience with cci was buying a brick of cci blazer. Brass was black with gunk and jammed in every volt 22 we had. Ran like a champ in my 10/22 tho. Still the last time I ever buy it tho.
