Or you can hot rod the 450 NE far beyond old double gun loads. I took my No. 1 450 NE 3 1/4" to 2450 FPS with a 500 grain bullet.

With both my No. 1s I had to take off so much of the safety, to get the cases to eject cleanly, that you could see the ugly slot the safety travels in. Both rifles were chambered for long cartridges though (300 H&h and .450 NE 3 1/4"). Perhaps with a shorter cartridge you only need to file a bit off.

The stock safety is ugly anyways. A TROP safety is a must for any No. 1.

They truly are superb rifles though.

Here is the .450 Nitro Express 3 1/4"

Oh ya, very aware of that potential, ( and I think we all heard you grunt a bit on that experiment) he was talking about hot rodding the 45-70, which doesn't come close to the DR loads on the 450, that'd be a reduced load on it. I take it both of those are likely Boddington editions? They actually have wood on them.

I've seen other ones with the safety done like on DG's gun, that is the right way to do it. It strikes me as NECG or someone like them is peddling a version that is trimmed down for clearance. A fella from Australia was doing some, think he quit selling them though, he built some beauty Ruger's and some DR's.

The rifle was far too light for shooting loads like that. I just took them their as an experiment.

The .450 is a Boddington the .300 H&H and is just a normal 1S. 2011 production.

Thanks for the compliments!
