Default Ever Make That Once in a Lifetime Shot? *some graphic content*

I recently picked up a Cooey 39 so my niece could have something to learn on when shes old enough. I gave it a good cleaning and took it out for some shooting on Saturday. It shoots amazingly well after around 25 fouling shots. Once I learned the sight ramp adjustments and found the right ammo I was getting a 3/4" group at 100 yards using CCI Minimags. The land owner sauntered over after having a few wobbly pops and said " Shoots good but can it take the nuts off a squirrel at 100 yards?" He said this because there was a squirrel gathering pine cones beside the target. The bore was cold and the land owner want the squirrels thinned out anyways so I gave it shot. I guess I can take the nuts off a squirrel at 100 yards. Not likely I will ever be able to make that shot again. And the look on the land owner face was PRICELESS!
Anyways Ill let the picture speak for itself.

Not much meat left on those hams. Great shot with precise timing.

Pretty good shooting. Would have been more impressive if the the squirrel lived but could not reproduce again.

Heard a story about trapper once shooting bear through head at long distance. His partner said great shot, he never admitted bear spun around at last second and he would have hit him in the arse.

Im fairly sure the squirrel died instantly due to the shock of the hollow point. At least it didn't move after the shot.

I wouldn't move much either if my sack was vaporized.

You are full of what came out of that the back of that so called nut shot. There is no way you pulled that off with iron sights. Consider a gopher standing straight up at a hundred yards now throw some iron sites to it. Then raise it for the hit. Which means your in the air without seeing the gopher because you have no scope. Then to have that kind of damage at 100 yards. Spread your gopher poop on a science fiction site. I’m calling you out on a dumb post and its amazing anyone bought that crap!!!!!!!!Theres people here who can shoot and use cutting edge stuff would not boast this garbage.

Just because you don't know how to use open/iron sights does not mean someone else can not do it .

Did you miss the title, "once in a lifetime shot"?
The OP wasn't bragging about being able to repeat it.

I never said this was a repeatable shot, I got lucky plain an simple. The only reason I even bothered to post was because of the irony involved after the land owner made his smartass remark.

Its posts like yours that make people not want to post their stories or pictures in the first place. Anyone remember the OLD AO, the one that was full of interesting stories, photos of great memories and most importantly an actual comradery between members?

Hey pal just ignore the non believers! I was also a bit sarcastic in my post asking about 100 yards shot with iron sights. After all, even if you did make some things up, we had a good giggles at the story. After all, who doesn’t make their fish bigger in their stories! And if you did really hit this bugger the way you say you did - all better!
Common guys, let’s not start questioning everyone’s stories and shooting results. This is a forum after all and not a CBC / CNN hard fact site.

Lol. Great shot. Those moments that you'll tell around the fire for decades.

Mine came 20 years ago or so... was out with a couple friends shooting gophers with our bows. It was really windy and the gophers were staying deep. Shot at a gopher twenty yards away and the wind blew my arrow over a foot or so. It deflected up and hit a gopher mound 50 yards further away, right into the hole.
When I pulled my arrow out it had a chunk of fur and blood on it.
Once in a life time...

I was harassing magpies on a meat scrap pile one time.
Shooting at a downward angle at a magpie on the ground.
The bullet went through the first bird and ricochet up and killed second bird sitting on top of a rib cage.

That's still great shooting at 100 yds with an older .22 like that. My first firearm was a model 39, given to me for my birthday 55 years ago. It too was a great shooter.

Jeepers he was shooting gophers, in which I can say yup did that but not in the old sackaroo...open sighted Winchester lever action .22 at the ol' gopher patch 100 yards give or take....line up on the critter standing up on its back legs, raised up a foot or so above and sent it, fell over dead....one out of a 1000 plus shots that summer...good times....now that's cutting edge stuff
