Default 38-55 ammo?

Hey guys,
I just picked up a model 94 in 38-55 and have been having trouble finding ammunition for this cartridge, any ideas? I’ve fallen in love with the gun already and I can’t wait to shoot it.

Check with Caroline Sports, they often have some of the less popular ammo.

Do you handload at all? I can hook you up with cast bullets, cases can be made from 30-30 if needed.

I don’t handload yet, but plan to in the future.

Default Win 94

A new commemorative or an 1894 ? Bullet diameter varies widely. Like .375 to .380+ older models being larger usually.

I had the Alberta Diamond Jubilee Commemorative for a few years. I shot Bullet Barns 245 grain. It’s a .379 bullet with a 25 Brinell hardness. Shot great. Lois is great to deal with at the Bullet Barn.

Default from what I've read

They are good shooters.I have my Grandfather's 1894 rd long barrel and am having Ron Smith re-bore a pre-safety 30-30 Marlin carbine to 38-55 with a .376 groove and a regular 1-15" twist. Factory D+T for aging eyes to be scoped..........likely a 4x Leupold.

To the Op. Loading for the 38-55 is really very easy. I have loaded for quite a few and it is simple to find a good shooting cast or jacketed load. Prophets price is fair for factory ammo but you can make hand loads for under $10 a box using cast and not a lot more using jacketed bullets. As was said, brass is easily made by necking up 30-30 with just the 38-55 dies. The 30-30 was originally made by necking down the old 38-55 Black Powder cartridge and loading smokeless powder.

I've been trying to convince my wife we should buy it! I'm not winning so far... lol
I've got a decent 250gr mold if anyone needs bullets, hard or soft cast, powder coated or wax lube depending on what you're trying to do, just let me know.

Default The Beauty

Of the long Starline brass is it's thin enough to hold fat bullets if needed and still chamber. I'm using .381/265gr GC in my 1894 RCBS sent me free a cowboy seater die as the regular seater was too small.
