Default Anyone use a portable fish finder vs flasher

Was looking at one, I like it visually shows structure, locates fish etc. Just not sure on how well it would work for ice fishing. Anyone use one, comparison to the Marcum Troller?

thanks.

Default Eagle with ice ducer

I have my boat eagle fishfinder rigged in a bag with battery, holder, iceducer. I know it is not a real flasher but it does have a real time area on screen like a flasher and seems to work well. Big baits of course show well and we have done the tiny perch jigs at 30 fow and shows up clear as day as well. I have not tried anything tiny deeper than that so far to confirm small size and what it will pickup. some day if i hit spray i will give it a real test. Just allows me to use the same unit summer or winter. Gives me the depths, fish, etc that I need.

remove suction cup mount. fully open coat hanger. -----------------.place center of wire parallel to the mounting area on the transducer head.put each end of the coat hanger in the mounting hole from different ends.pull thru. I use pliers to bend the wire in to a snug bend around the mount ----¥-----
once the mount is snug bend the coat hanger into the bend you feel is best for you on the ice.£_____}sorry my diagrams are crappy if you look at my last one 90° to the screen you will get the idea. I use a painted coat hanger but even baling wire will work fine just remember it will rust. if I ever come across stainless wire the coat hanger will be replaced. industrial insulation guys are the one to see they use miles if it.hope this helps pm in you need more info.

I picked up a Eagle from bass proshops last winter for 80.00. I know its not a great unit, but for the price it does a pretty good job. You can see your jig going up and down, and it also marks fish. Put the chart speed at 100%, get better markings..

I have an LMS337(lowrance) and HDS 5 both rigged for ice fishing. Both do dual duty - use em on the boat also. Likely will never buy a flasher.
