I have my rig out yesterday for the first time.

180 ELD-M factory ammo was around 3000fps and overpressure. Ejector marks and sticky bolt. Groups were MOA and under

175 ELD-X was around 2780fps and under MOA.
It was a bit breezy on Monday when we went to nose hill and we had some work with a couple guns for a buddy of mine so I didn't shoot as much or take it out as far as I would have liked but did shoot to 890 yards with little effort, the 180 match averaged 2971 out of a 26" barrel in my CA Mesa long range the 175gr ELDX averaged 2993, no ejector marks or any signs of pressure on any of the brass, I had a nice little group on the 650 yard gong so it's ready for it's next stop Elk camp in a couple weeks
I picked up another 10 boxes of ELDX ammo from prairie gun traders in Avonlea for $79.99 so now I have lots of brass for working up loads, a buddy of mine from down that way picked it up for me and is bringing it to the shoot this weekend in Allan so no shipping charges, just a bag a jerky for the delivery

My thoughts exactly! I have brass, bullets and 6 lbs of RL26! My barrel maker says 12 weeks but I am positive it will take a few weeks longer than that…so it will be my winter project. In the meanwhile the rifle is still usable and is set up as my long range rifle in 300 Win Mag with typical Tikka accuracy.

Holy crap by the time you get your barrel all that Reloader 26 is going to be stale. If you like I can do you a favour and take it off your hands.

I did a ladder test with the 160gr CX today.

62.0gr 2782fps
62.5gr 2832fps
63.0gr 2848fps
63.5gr 2897fps
64.0gr 2875fps
64.5gr 2932fps
65.0gr 2941fps
65.5gr 2974fps
66.0gr 2982fps

24” tube, H4831SC, WLRM primer, new ADG brass

Had pressure at 63.0gr, sticky bolt and slight ejector marks, but I kept going and the rest of the ladder had no signs. Weird.

4 of us made a run to nose hill today, a beautiful day to shoot +11 bright sun on our back and very little mirage, the wind was about 20KM from the SW but was gusting a bit so it gave us something to think about.

Shot the 7 PRC first with the 180 ELDM, started at 460 ping ping ok lets start to stretch it out a bit, next stop 872, bad wind hold the first shot gave it 2 MOA and ping ping, OK now to take it out again next stop 1140, I started at 4 moa left wind, right of target elevation bang on, 6 moa ping 5 straight hits, sweet.

Switched to the 6.5 PRC with the 147 gr ELDM dialed it up and held 6 moa left wind ping hit 4 out of 5 shots at 1140, OK I think I got it dialed in now, let's go to 1400, 5 shots and all around the target but not 1 ping switched back to the 7PRC, dialed up and held 8 moa left, ping but then 4 misses in a row, left and right wind was obviously doing something different up in that valley, 1400 it a long way for this old guy.

Given both rifles are actually hunting rigs I wanted to do some shooting out of my little ground chair with my modified long bipod on to duplicate hunting conditions ( 14" added on the legs with aluminum golf club shafts ) very consistent hits with both rifles out to 660 and at 872 I hit about 50% of the time, not bad. Put about 15 rounds through each out of my chair and called it a day.

All in all I'm very happy with the rifles performance, the misses were no doubt more on me than the rifle or ammo, it was a great day and I burned up close to 100 rounds between the 2 guns, ate my lunch consisting of a ham sandwich, some smoked trout ( compliments of Frank NK28 ) hickory farms beef stick with smoked gouda and smoked Swiss cheese and of course my own homemade dill pickles, washed it down with a nice hot tea and finished with a couple oatmeal raisin cookies compliments of another lunch bag there.

While the other 3 were finishing up shooting I packed up my stuff and just sat in my chair for a while and soaked in the day, man I'll tell you it don't get any better than this, life is good
