As long as he does not do to Argentina what Pinochet did to Chile.

But looking at the results of long term reforms in Chile, it now is a prosperous and stable Country that welcomes free enterprise.

How safe is Argentina for tourists? If their economy is that depressed, now may be a good time to check out the gaucho culture and hunt a red stag.

Recently looked it up before booking a trip to Jurassic Lake, Argentina is still of the "follow normal precautions" list, the highest ranking.

Default It’s working first surplus

Argentina posted first surplus in 12 years. Cutting government expenses. Don’t see this on CBC, Global, CTV, or CNN.

We’ll see how this prevails. Likely won’t have much coverage in North America. As this doesn’t fit narrative for small governments.

“ The Economy Ministry announced the figures Friday, and the government was $589 million in the black.

Argentina’s surplus comes on the heels of ambitious cuts in federal spending pushed by newly-elected President Javier Milei that includedslashing bureaucracy, eliminating government publicity campaigns, reducing transportation subsidies, pausing all monetary transfers to local governments, and devaluing the peso.

Pain is required. People don’t want pain. So they vote least painful, or least resistance. Much like water and money $$$, they flow areas of least resistance.
