Drying time and shrinkage?

First bull moose with Archery Gear today! After struggling with my rest and having to Drive to Sherwood Park for repairs, huge shout out to John at Tand T archery. Had me fixed up in no time.

Back to Killam just in time for a snack and off looking for the bull we put to bed earlier this morning. To my amazement at 2:30 ish, him and his cows were up walking about. Stalked him til appr 3:30, first shot hit back a bit and low. He walked appr 7 yards and layed down.

He was facing away from me, so i attempted to get closer. Huge fail. He stood up, lucky enough i was at full draw when I realized what he was doing. Released a second arrow, straight into the boiler room, stood there for about a minute. He layed down there and expired within a couple minutes. No blood trail required than God.

So rough scored him at just above 150, 47.5 inch spread. 17 points.
My question is how much will He lose with drying and how many days wait is it?

Don't know what the shrinkage will be, but I think the drying / waiting time is 60 days

Did a more accurate score on him today, came in at 144. Now im concerned about shrinkage a little, would love to mske book but if not its OK.
The memory of the hunt will last us a life time.

Book is 135....he won't shrink 9 inches.

Dan, do you realize how big your moose really is? You've just done what hundreds in Alberta won't do this year, or next, or ever. I am stoked you harvested a moose with bow. My hat off to you sir! But don't think for a second your whatever inch bull is any bigger trophy than a smallish cow moose I may taken with bow. Drying period is 60 days as has been said. I hope there is NO disappointment on your part if your animal is not recognized in some book.

And if he do not make book, i will not be disappointed at all. My wife and 2 kids with me, only help i had to clean, quarter and get home.

Absolute hunt of a lifetime for me, the pics and memories was well worth the 7 year wait.

Making P&Y would just be a super bonus is all.

You took a nice moose and the antlers wont shrink that much, congrats!

As Lefty stated your good to go shrinkage wise...keep in a cool dry spot for the 60 days for minimal shrinage
