2 whitetails locked together.
The brother-in-law and I found these guys locked together on remembrance day this year. We had been traveling the same trail for a week now, and have been hearing ravens going crazy in the bush. It was the last day of our week long hunting trip, and decided to walk in to the bush and see what was going on. We where thinking it might have been an animal that was shot and got away. Where we happy when we came across ‘the twins’ as my brother-in-law calls them. The one was still alive, but only hours away from dying. You could see where the one whitetail had dragged the other over logs and through the bush. But here are the pictures. Have more pictures from after we got our permit, and cleaned them up some.

What was the story on the one that was still alive...no hope?

we didnt even know that he was alive when we first walked in. but when we touched one of there antlers it started to move its leg. It was more of a twitch and he would blink every once and a while. Plus the ravens had started to eat his butt.

ya it was to bad that it ended as it did. we thought that if we had gone in the first day when we heard the ravens we probably could have saved the one. My brother-in-law just took them in to get a euro mount of them. took them around to a few taxidermists. minimum would have costed 2500 for the two mounts and a pedestal mount. prefer to spend money on new hunting storys then one then the old ones. If we want we can still get the shoulder mounts done.

Wow! Two great bucks......too bad it has to end like that for such good genetic animals! At least they were found and someone has them to appreciate. Mother natures pretty mean sometimes......

When I hear or see ravens doing that I gotta to see what the deal is right now. No way I could ignore that, the curiosity would drive me crazy.

Do you mind me asking in what general area they were found? I showed up to our hunting camp this year a day after all my buddies were there and they said someone had brought out two whitetails locked together. The story sounds the same? I was hoping the pics would show up on here, my buddies never thought to take a pic for me? Thanx

Cool story, thanks for sharing. Sad that two nice bucks had to go that way, especially the one that was still alive when you got there.

We found them up by fawcett lake. The smaller deer is a 6X6 and the bigger one has lots of junk and is 8X11. No idea on the scores of them, both me and the brother-in-law are meat hunters and dont score the spikers. My brother-in-law tried to pull them apart and he could not get them apart. but this is once they where frozen. The big thing that is holding them together is the drop tine on the 8X11.

Being locked together, do they count as one?
Not to derail, but how would you score a Siamese buck?

no kidding! all i can really determine is that they are both bigger than average. cool find.
no fallen, they arent scored as one.
anyone remember the story on the stang buck many years ago. a typical netting a little over 200 running around with a head from another buck stuck in his antlers. as incredible as that buck is (4 point, 5 point or 10 point however you wanna count) i just couldnt see myself cutting them apart....but they did.

New Pics on snow
Here are some new pics of the deer on some clean snow. Makes everything stick out. Any guesses on the sizes. The taxidermist is going to rough score them for us.

You have been blessed for nature to reveal itself to you in this manner. Helps you keep things in perspective on life, death and the fights you chose.

Nice antlers.
