The ice was great. Went out there yesterday and i wont bother going back. looks like a bad winter kill. Caught 1 perch and 1 hammer handle between two of us. A quad and two other vehicles were on the lake and most of them gave up around noon. We tried four different spots, stuck down the camera in every hole and not even little perch around. We drilled around thirty holes, and fished the holes of the people who left, and nada.
We talked to the one guy who stuck around fishing after noon and he said it was his fourth time out there this year and he had tried everywhere on the lake and hadn't caught a single perch. We did see he had caught one nice perch later in the day, but for the distance involved for one or two nice perch I know a lot better lakes a lot closer to home.

Meh, do some exploring on your own to those lakes you don't hear a lot about because you can't drive a truck to them. You'll find a good one if you look enough. Than keep it to yourself.

Wiau will be good again in a few years.
