Default looking at a new chestpack.

Anyone have a chespack/backpack combo they would recommend. Positives/negatives of the one you have? I have had my eye on the Fishpond Double Haul chest/back pack. Trying to find a place in Canada to order it from. I like the double haul as it has the smaller back pack.

Pricey be well worth it!! If you don't need that kind of volume, there is a smaller one as you mentioned.

Super comfy and practicle. the only thing I don;t like is the buckles they use a bit of a pain in the As$...

I ordered my through Fishtales, but TFO is the Canadian distributor so they may have them in stock at their Calgary distribution centre.

Ive got the Headwaters 1/2 day pack & Chest pack. They go together nicely. A little pricey but nice gear. http://www.simmsfishing.com/site/xdpy/sg/PACKS

Does the backpack feel bulky at all while fishing?

Actually it feels a lot more comfortable while hiking then any of the 3 other backpacks I have for hiking, backpacking or ski touring!! And I barely notice it while fishing. Make sure you load it up and try it on so you can gage it with your torso length b/c you can;t actually adjust it on this pack...

Oh and another (slight) complaint... The straps are way too long (but then again I'm thin and fit) so I had to cut them back a bit... Also, it would have been nice if they made it with a trampoline back like the Willy J pack!! But these are all nit picky! I would recommend this pack most definitely!

I don't have the specific model you're talking about, but I've had the Shooting Star for over 4 years now. I've made hundreds of trips with and I don't treat it gently. With the exception of a little fading, it's still in near perfect condition. I'd conclude Fishpond makes top notch gear and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another of their products.

Fishpond wildhorse found one used on ebay. Very versatile, pack it with as much or as little as you want depending on how long you are going to be out and what kind of conditions you might be fishing in.
