Strikemaster 40 volt battery alternative
This message may have been sent already , but i did not see one.
The greenworks 40 volt batteries fit/work on my strikemaster 40 volt ice auger and charger. Very slight modifications to the plastic tabs, about 30 seconds to remove 2 plastic tabs. The price on amazon is $90 for a 40 volt 6 AH compared to the fishing hole for $250 5 AH.
If you need additional information with pics, just send me a message.

Every thing I have read says do not use after market not just on SM but Ion and any others.
Those expensive batts will be less come spring and summer.

the dairy I worked at for a long time used to sell 5 brands of butter. people swore by some and at some, funny thing is they were the same crap with a different wrapper.
of course the big players want you to spend twice as much or 3 times as much, guess where all that extra profit is going?
drop them in a fancier case and triple your profits, of course they do

Same deal with the 24 Volt Strikemaster as well. Greenworks batteries work with a slight modification.

It’s still cheaper buying a battery for your sm then trying to rig up a cheap one that probably and could wreck your auger. Just cause the internet says it’s ok and you only have to do a slight altercation to the battery to make it work is telling you that it’s not a wise thing to do. Common man!!!

When I bought my SM40V at Cabelas boxing day sale Xmas 2018 the sale included a spare battery and they also had spare batteries on sale for $99 so I bought one and have three for mine.

I don't think greenworks makes a 6ah battery pack. They only make up to 5ah. So you may have got a knockoff. If that's the case, i would be very cautious using them. Just because they power your auger, does mean they're safe to use. I spoke with a greenworks rep and they couldn't even tell me the cell type used in their packs(18650, 21700, discharge rate, low voltage protection etc.) So I'd imagine a knockoff would be even more sketchy.
The problem is that we don't know whether the battery packs or the auger have low voltage protection, so it may be possible to fully drain the batteries, which could screw them. And if the discharge rate of the battery pack is higher than the auger, **** can fry

Just wondering if anyone has the info on how to convert the Greenworks battery to work on the Strikemaster?
I've pm'd Donkey a couple times but no response.
Thanks.
