Default fly fishing using normal rod and spinning reel?

I don't know if anyone tried this way before

Last week when I was fishing at Travers reservior, I noticed there were a lof of fish feeding the insects that floating on the water surface just before sunset. I only had my normal rod and spinning reel and no way to fish those fishes.

So could anyone shed some light on how to fish for fishs that float on top of lake water?

I don't have fly rod and boat and can only fishing from the Lakeshore.

Any help would be appreciated

You can tie a fly on to regular line and attatch a bobber 3-4 feet above it and cast it out.

there are bobbers you can get that are designed for your situation or what you wanna do. I cant rememberthe name of the bobbers, i think they are called torpedo bobbers.

Either clear in color or clearredandwhite with and elastic tube down the middle.

yes i've done that before..you thread your line through your torpedo bobber..twist it..so it sticks.. you fill the torpedo bobber up with water to add more weight for casting and then tie a fly a few feet away from the bobber..
