pigeon lake
where is the bottom with rocks? Tried 5 times this year looking for rocky area, but all I found were sandy bottoms.
Is there a rocky bottom at pigeon?

You will really only find sand, pigeon doesn't have any sort of structure.
Hence why they have had such issues with walleye spawning there.

Sounds like Floatingstone, put a camera down anywhere on the lake and looks like the mars rover pictures!

Rocks
Pigeon lake has lots of rocks, the mid lake structure I fish is mostly rocks and there are several of them. Finding them is easy with the gps.

There is several locations with rocks around Pigeon, especially between Mulhurst and Ma Me O. The mouth of the creek next to the Ma Me O launch is full of pit run size rock and extends several hundred yards out, the point east of Mulhurst has a large rock shelf of huge boulders from 8 to 14 fow, the island has a long tapering underwater point also composed of large rock. There's also two smaller rock humps in the vicinity of Sandholm.

The best walleye fishing is around the rock piles if you know where to find them.

Hey fellas, long time Alberta fisherman, but have never hit up pigeon! Headed there tomorrow morning. From what I gather best spots to access the lake are millhurst and the park. We are gonna go for the park. My question is, is there parking there? Would hate to drive all the way and have a gate across or something. Also any info on snow on the lake would be great. I've searched the threads the most recent ones don't talk about it. I'm not a fan of driving on, but may bring the quad to drag gear around. I just don't wanna take it all the way there to get stuck every 20 feet. If that's the case I'll bring snow shoes

lots of rock in pigeon.
And I was there last weekend... might want to make sure you got a rope and a winch on your quad cause it will likely be a mess.

I was not on the lake last weekend but was on before that. My guess is that you will do ok with the quad. There was a quad on the last time I was there and I'm sure the snow conditions are much better now than then.
Good Luck

There is plenty of parking at the provincial park - there are two lots out there that can hold over 100 trucks and boat trailers .... no worries.
I would suggest you access the boat launch and head north, along the shore, just around the first bend (maybe 300-500 yards from the launch) and find the drop off. That area holds some fish.
It will be wet.

Have been fishing pigeon a few times this week and it has been so so. Averaged 4 pike and 5 walleye per day ( 3 outings). Walleye seem to be active just before dark. Fished straight out from the boat launch on the drop off and was working the drop off from about 10' to 20' of water. Good luck, finally pulled the pin and tagged 2 walleye yesterday Class A.
Cheers, Dave.

Was out there yesterday, near mission beach.
Saw nothing, until the end of the day while we were packing up - My oldest boy had continued fishing said he saw a pike come by.
I quickly dropped a jig into an adjacent hole. The kids sure enjoyed watching what was a quite respectable pike checking out my lure over and over... Just couldn't get it to commit.
Ice was about three feet thick at that spot, and little to no snow cover, water was very clear.

Pigeon was commercially netted last week. Not sure how the pull went but it is supposed to go until the quota has been filled.
