Default Elk antlers hunt

What time of the year is the best to pick up elk and deer antlers???

It depends which year.

It's usually best as soon as the snow melts.

Elk drop around end of April. Best to find them before the grass grows and the trees get their leaves

Welcome to AO. Ask a simple question and get a bunch of smartass replies. April and May are usually the best months though animals might still be wearing them. Easier to look for sheds when they are not hidden behind/under new folige. At least in May you can combine shed hunting with Mushroom hunting.

Longer they lay on the ground the more the squirrels and porkies chew them for their mineral content.
