Default Road conditions to Cardinal Divide

Hello all,
Could anyone give me an update on the road conditions between Cadomin and the Cardinal Divide? I know last time I was out there, their was lots of road construction going on but that was 3-4 years ago. And the roads are always weather dependant, but if anyone has been in there more recently perhaps within the last year or even this spring and could let me know what the more recent conditions are like that would be great. I only have a car now no truck anymore so I'm not to sure about the drive up there.
Cheers

Never been. Maybe try adding a "?" in the thread title so people view the thread as a question

Do you mean the Trunk Road from Cadomin to the Cardinal River?

Been a few years for me too.
Are you looking to get up to the Mountain Park divide, or down the other side to Grave Flats ?
If down to the south side, and in a car, I'd come from the south side.
But have seen good bears in that area.

The Small Boy gang drive cars back and forth out of there all the time on beer runs year round.

How do I know? They told me once and asked if wanted them to pick something up for me?

Did that entire stretch several times a couple of years ago. Very steep in places near the Divide and rough, not my idea of a car road, needed 1500. of front end work on my truck afterwards.

Once the snow melts you can probably get a car up there, it is just going to be really slow and rough with your car. A car wouldn't be my first choice of vehicles though. You can't drive a loop down to grave flats/small boys via the divide anymore from Cadomin because the road is washed out completely a couple kilometers past the divide. Haven't been that way since Christmas and it was obviously snowed in by then and you couldn't drive to Whitehorse creek campground. In the fall I was hunting up that way and the drive in a truck was fine.

Yeah it's been washed out since about this time two years ago. If you're heading towards the smallboys from the cardinal divide, it's washed out pretty close to the bottom of the hill. That little Cardinal must have been a roaring. Wish I could have seen it. You can get out there from pembina river road as well.

What's happening with the Cheviot mine, south of Cadomin ? Seems like a real outrage to destroy that lovely country.

Haven't been there for a long time. However, it was almost Victoria Day before the road was clear of snow, that year.
