Just ran across this old quote from a late friend.

“You can quote me on this any time you want to, but as far as I'm concerned, accuracy for its own sake can become a very, very bitter bargain if the structural integrity of the bullet itself is such that reliable, bet-your-life-on-it terminal performance is compromised to the point of failure. That's a no-win deal any way you'd care to cut it, and from any logical standpoint of consideration. Yep! For how many decades did our grandparents and great grandparents use simple bullets with success. Like anything, if used within its limitations you’ll be successful if you do your part.

Need to remember grandpa and especially great grandpa weren't trying to drive those old standard bullets at 3150 fps. There's not a lot of problem keeping cup and core bullets together at 44-40 velocities. You can bet they also were not expecting their bullets to perform at 50 yards and 500 yards.
