Exclamation Charting a Path for Salmon & Public Fishery - SFI Free Web-Conference

2020 SFI Annual Policy Conference – Online Webinar Series

Beginning at 9:30 a.m. Friday, November 6 – For the first time, the SFI is hosting a series of virtual discussions intended to seek pathways for recovery of salmon stocks and predictable opportunity and reliable access for BC’s public fishery. Attendance is free but you must register for each session in advance, links to session registration are below. Session will be approximately 90 minutes long, with an audience question and answer period following each presentation or speaker, and will cover topics within this year’s theme, Charting a Predictable Path for Salmon and BC’s Public Fishery.

Ms. Reid toted the government line as expected.
The FN's get the lion's share, and that is the way it is. Made a point of numerous mentioning of UNDRIP and the government's overwhelming desire to fall into step with that.
Area closures will continue FAR into the future (apparently with little or no regard to threatened/endangered stock encounter rates).
And platitudes / lip service towards any other issue of import.

Dr. Walters was a breath of fresh air.
Clearly and concisely spelled out the research and data which demonstrates the largest impacts to salmon stocks are pinnipeds, and addressed several related misnomers while doing so.

WELL worth the watch!
