Default trout

Yellowstone Cutthroats are also in Ab as opposed to the more widely known Westslope Cutthroat

Heh. Now that I actually list them all out it's been a great first full year of fishing. I've been bummed that I haven't been able to land a Rainbow or Whitefish this year but this eases that feeling

Great question...

I can't lie...I caught the Splake in Jasper with the dad...about 30 years ago. They have not been around for a long time... So I guess...the young guys are always going to be one fish short of a full creel.

Im sure this post was intended as game fish, suckers ofcourse dont count for jack, it be like doing the same survey with hunting and includeing gophers and mag pies lmao.

to answer the question all of them,
except sturgen

(golden trout being a feat in its self, barnaby and R.R.L.) and the mooneyes i caught in sask, as well as splake and tigers outa the little bear lake region (lived there for about 6 months) didnt even know what a sauger was when i was catching outa sask river untill a fellow i was BS-ing with looked at them an said "boy, those are sauger" info is key!

Default My Catch List with Pics #1

So I figured looking at the same list of fish over and over was getting repetitive. So here are some pics. I can't find a picture for Tullibee and sauger, but have specimens of the rest except for those I haven't caught and are pending catch some day soon (Mooneye, Arctic Grayling, Golden Trout, Lake Sturgeon)

Mountain Whitfish

Lake Whitefish

Tullibee(Cisco)
Goldeye

Walleye

Sauger
Yellow Perch

Northern Pike

Burbot

Rainbow Trout

They can't all fit on one so see next post....

I'm embarrassed to say that I have never caught a walleye, although I've never fished specifically for them. I'd like to add walleye, golden trout and lake trout to my list this season.

I'll stick to original list as duffy asked for fish (game fish only) caught in Alberta. I have caught the following:

Mountain Whitfish
Lake Whitefish
Goldeye
Walleye
Sauger
Yellow Perch
Northern Pike
Lake Sturgeon
Burbot
Rainbow Trout
Brown Trout
Cutthroat Trout
Golden Trout
Bull Trout
Lake Trout
Brook Trout

I also caught one more not on the list. Grass Carp. I was asked by SRD to see if I could catch one by hook and rod in their original testing to utilize them for weed control in canals in Southern Alberta. I caught one on corn and 2 more on a fly. Real strong initial runs!

Right on tuffy:

Give McTaggart Sactuary a try for these little guys on a flyrod.

Test those techniques out.

Thanks tuffy for posting this.

All the above finished in 1998 including an AB smallmouth bass, Atha B Rainbow, Yellowstone Cuttie (Banff), Northern Dolly (Chester Lake before it got busy) all the sucker species, and the prettiest one of all Golden Trout. Now working on all fish species in Canada and doing quite well.

Go to Pine Coulee...can't keep em...and if you can't catch one it is because you don't have a hook on.

This thread was started several years ago.

I have since caught some Golden trout.

They were quite beautiful and the place I was fishing was an incredible place.

I'm just short the brown, golden and sturgeon (and I don't count the chub). I plan on targeting the three missing species this summer.

My bull trout was about 1/2 a pound, but hey - it counts

I landed a nice golden trout up in Rawson lake. I had never even heard of them before so when I caught it I wasn"t sure what I had. A few people around me just told me it was a rainbow but I knew better than that. I'll try and get a picture uploaded so the experts out there can confirm that it was indeed a golden trout.

Rawson Lake has Cutthroat trout (good ones too) and is 250 km from the nearest Golden Trout water.

I've heard the fishing is good down there, it's one of the places I plan on trying sometime this year. Thanks for the info.
