Has anyone fished it lately? Curious how the snow conditions are.

Thank you

Was out on Sunday with a buddy. You can make it on for about 750 yards in a 4 X 4 truck but that's where the trail ends and, unless you have chains and big tires (and sizable lift), you'll be stuck. You can make it about 1/3 of the way to the island at about 12 feet of water.

We had the most success in between 7 - 8 feet of water, although we had bites deeper and shallower. Only saw one perch all day, but saw a couple walleye, some pike, and literally dozens of bourbot spawning in about 3 feet of water. They were totally disinterested in the bait but were very good sized (6+ lbs on average). We came home empty handed as neither of us got a walleye and the pike we caught were too small.

The ice is VERY thick. It will test the limits of your auger (and your biceps if you don't have a power auger).

Might head up last week of March, sounds like an extension is required on most lakes.

An extension is never 'required' per se. Just outsmart the ice and you can get through with a standard auger quite easily.

Can't beleive how much water is starting to collect on the main truck trail going out from 86. Rusty colored water running down from the birm area on sunday, must be a spring close in that area. If the weather warms up this bay is going to break up fast.

I stayed in an outfitters tent at the last plowed lease before the lake. Fished sat sun mon and it was the worst trip of the year. F*** the full moon and the wind. From the east, fish bite the least. Anyone else find the walleye bit none existant this weekend?? The walleye shut right down. Coming up on the flasher at mid depth but just swam away. Fish in the bay and other side of the isalnd in 16 ft. No walleye in 3 days and I was workin. Ps the only reason I fished the other side of the island is because I had a quad with chains. The snow is insane. Caught 30 pike about a pound. If that tickles your bag then giv'r. Gonna head up 1st weekend lakes are closed. Except utikky.

I passed by your tent on sunday...ya we didnt have any luck either...1 undersized walleye and a few jacks. Buddy said he was watching the barametric pressure and he said in the morning it was low and a couple hours later it was really high. That wind sure had a bite to it.

Not very encouraging is it. Maybe I'll save a bunch of gas money and wait for June.

We were there last Saturday. Managed only 1 walleye I lost at the top of the hole and a billion one pound pike and two descent ones that snapped the line. The guys fishing next to us had a sled and went to the island and limited out in a hour. They showed us the spot so we tried to drive the truck over to no avail. To bad I think that was the only place on the lake producing anything.

We were out on Saturday too, fishing was horrible. The wind didn't stop blowing all day, tough to get anywhere with all the snow! Didn't go home with any fish!

Not sure if it's worth all the miles from edmonton.
