Default August long Research

The family and I are heading out to the phyllis lake/ clearwater area, a first for us to this area. I was wondering how the fishing has been as well as any hiking trails in the area. We will be staying in either the Phyllis lake campground or tay river campground.
Any advice or updates on fishing conditions would be great!

I havent tried tay but I hear the action is great. There are som brooders in phyllis but the majority are small....really small. Alford up the road is a much better fishery with bigger trout and brooders as well. Alford is back country camping.....no facilities but free. You should probably have a boat of some kind for any of em though.

You may also want to try beaver, fiesta, birch and maybe ironside when in the area though.
Fiesta and beaver are C and R but nice sized ones in there. Again a boat would be good.

if you plan on getting a spot at phyliss i would suggest going a few days before the weekend and setting up at tent.. they only have 27 sites and it fills up instantly

Thanks everyone, we will give those a shoot and post fishing reports. I figured Phyllis might book up quick, there are a couple of other campgrounds close by should we need to find alternative sites. I do have a pontoon and belly boat so we will give those a shoot. C & R for us... Allergies

Good luck

How was your August long? My sons and I are planning on heading that way next weekend to fish. Never been there but heard its nice. Probably trolling flies or spinners?
Hoping to stay at Phyllis lake too so any other campground suggestions near by would be appreciated.
Thanks

Default August long update

Thanks everyone for all your input and comments. We arrived late to Phyllis and Tay river camp sites so searched out a place at Swan lake. What a beautiful spot it was. fishing was interesting, wouldn't normally find pike ( deep and in flats) the brookies on the other hand were behind beaver dams and log jams. Weather was great and area I would recommend it for family's as large boats are allowed with a 12 kph limit and no Atvs allowed in the campground.
