Default Fortress Lake

Am I crazy, or is there two Fortress Lakes?

One past the ski hill in K Country and one by Jasper?

If anyone has been to the one by the old ski hill, let me know the fishin is and how accessible it is for a day trip.

Cheers.

The one in Jasper can be walked into in a day.

The greedy outfitter there does not people like me posting this.

Enjoy this lake while you can.

It is in eastern B.C. and nobody in Victoria really cares about it.

Greedy outfitter ? ...Not at all..He is actually a great guy and he maintains
the campsites on the lake. He also cares deeply for that resource.
By the way you can now hike in and stay at his camp as well.

When you could drive up to the ski hill it was a fairly easy hike but now that you have to walk the road, it's a long jaunt. I'd say it's an overnighter now. Lots of cutties in there but nothing huge.

Friends of mine were there this year. And yes, he cares about the resource but, according to their accounts,he's a little on the intense side - kind of like Marlon Brando in Apocolypse Now sort of way....

Hey is usually fairly quiet but he suffered from LYME disease all summer so I would assume he wasn't quite himself.

I would definitely be interested in a hike in to fortress lake and spend a couple nights there of fun, hiking, fishing and enjoying the wilderness. If anyones is organising or interested, pm me

Not sure which one u are interested in, but if it is in BC I was there the last year. The hike is dull and long, took 9 hours, mostly on an old forest road. You might take a bike up to the river ford. The fish is big, plenty and cooperative. My biggest was 56 cm right from the third camp shore.

would be the BC one. I would like to do the hike with a small group (max 4-6). I will have a bc license next year as well. If we can get a decent group that are like minded together for this, it could be fun.

ive been to the one at the ski hill. The best way now is to bring a bike. Its like all the other mountain lakes....lots of little ones. Good for kids. Kids that can hike/ride uphill for 9 kms and then climb up raceway, hike down sorcerer and then begin either the 5 km hike up garden path or go straight up under the chair lift. By now you will be spent, and your not even there. The final climb down in to the lake is steep and there is a resident griz. All this for some small cutts ? Not for me.
