Lightbulb 2018 stock picking challenge

rules are simple
-pick any 2 stock from the TSX or NYSE
( list ticker , date and price entry and a few notes for your pick )
-winning pick determine on percentage gained (average of the 2) uptil dec 31/2018
-post your pick before jan 31/2018 end dec 31/2018
-prize a unspecific bottle of scotch/whiskey from me feel free to add toward THE PRIZE POOL

2017 winner is play.soccer . ( its a bit early to called but i dont think anyone else is close...)

Arrow An Alternat Challenge . . .

Or better yet ... pick the month of the soon to happen, next major, overdue Bear Market.

The 'smart' money has already started to prepare for it.

Tourmaline Oil (TOU) 21.52

Terenga Gold(TGZ) 2.48

We'll see how those two do. Hopefully well as I just added a bunch of both to my portfolio.

Well technically one of his stocks shouldnt count as it's traded on the CSE not the TSX...

Nexoptic NXO.V going to revolutionize the optical lens. Flat lens technology, working on a miniaturized version for Smartphones, a multi billion dollar industry. Invented by a couple Calgary boys to boot!
$1.24 on the venture.

Don't see where that discredits anything in the linked article. I keep an open mind to both sides but if you look at some of the insider details of this company and its insider links it comes out stinking. Unjustified claims, no profits. But if one wants to throw their money at it without doing their homework then go nuts. Maybe it'll work out. LOL

Well, that article is from April. They now have the Patent, and are working with industry leading firms to develop their tech. With investors who come from Uber and Tesla joining their board, to working with firms that do product development with fortune 500 companies, Its defiantly worth a look.

An example of unjustified claims? You say?

Tidewater has a ton on the table. Been steady with them all year and no end in sight for next year.

Do we roll in the Quarterly divided for growth too? Or just pick the stocks that will grow the most?

Got to take some of the contributors with a grain of salt for sure. Love the site just for the transcripts of company conference calls. You can read through several in the time it takes to listen to one. Really good site for that.

I don't have any great ideas for swinging for the fence type stocks. I think cnq and dwdp are looking pretty good here though.

Tesla and Bitcoin seem like obvious shorts to me.

Figured I would bump this and see how things are going for your picks? So far I bought my DML at .56 about a month ago and it jumped again today up to .79 cents
Still lots of room to go till end of Jan/Feb when the peak usually hits.
Hope for over a $1.10 by then. If it does it will be a good hit. Got to love Uranium and the swings over the winter.
FCU is following the same as it usually does with DML also. Good chance for some real good gains and a possible buyout for one of the best U finds ever.

Gents, look into the crypto space, theres a whole world past "bitcoin" to invest in. I'm not trying to shill to anyone but there's some serious money to be made. All of us outdoor/gun enthusiasts often complain about government control etc etc, why do we continue to allow big business, centralized banks and government control our wealth?

1. TECK.B - Teck Resources - expect to see a small dip in the spring but finish the year very strong when Fort Hills comes fully online.

2. BR - Big Rock - they've been beaten up over the past year and a half, but I expect a comeback towards Q3/Q4 next year. Even bigger when we get rid of the NDP. At least it makes me feel better about buying beer.

Well my two arent doing to bad. Not great yet, but we still have a ways to go. TGZ bought at 2.49, now trading at 3 dollars, and TOU bought at 21.52 now trading at 21.54.
