Default Fished the Bow today

Heard the Bow was muddy so I went up around Gap Lake and did the Bow today. No ice what so ever. Had a great day did about 3 miles of the river upstream toward Canmore. Got 4 browns and 3 Wht's Some great pools up in there for fly or spinner. Would love to get a chance to share that stretch of river with someone. Just drop a PM if interested

Were you fly fishing or spin casting? I gotta patch up my waders and get my gear out soon, I'm still on hard water mode.

Hi,
We'd be interested in coming along with you. We went out that way on the weekend and got skunked. Had some bites only. Hubby and I would like to go with someone who knows the Bow a bit.

I went down on the bow for the first time just at fish creek, river was high and moving fast. Caught my first brown on second cast. Had some guy float down right infront of me and fish where I was standing.

Can't wait to go back, never fished on a river moving that fast, was shocked when I caught one.

It's closed from Bearspaw Dam down to the W.H.D. wier(which is pretty much blacfoot bridge on blackfoot trail.)

Good to hear people are still catching fish with all that sediment in the river. I fished for 30 minutes on Saturday before work, not a bite, but it was a beautiful morning.

Like I said it's open all year from Blackfoot bridge down to Carseland weir.

Good luck, I'm heading out this afternoon.

I take both my fly rod and spin cast with me. The water is clear as the bright blue was. How long that lasts depends on the melt. I love to get together with new people and tell lies about the big one that got away. Anytime.....

Do we need waders? We were out that way and could get around the banks without them. Not sure about the Gap Lake area. Sunday?
I'm sure you our 7 year old could tell you all about the whale size ones he lost ha ha

If you are going to use the spin cast its not as important. But on the fly I would recomend them yes. I belive my weekend is free yes.

Thumbs up Bow on Saturday

Got out Saturday for a couple hours; got a 21" brown before sunrise on a black leech. Tried a few different streamers, fished nymphs for a while; had one more hit on a streamer.Pretty slow, but worth getting up early for one nice trout.

Early start...

21" Brown...

Urban Fishing...

More Urban Trout;19" Brown from last week...

Hopefully, the Bow clears & warms a bit this week; planning to fish it on Friday.
Later,
Steve
