Default Moose lake

Hello, I was thinking of heading up to moose lake for May long but I have never been there before. Just wondering if anyone knows how the lake is for fishing. I haven't heard much about it for awhile and just want to make sure that I can catch some fish! Any info is appreciated, thx.

Moose is a great lake abundance of Pike,Walleye and perch. The perch can be a little hard to locate at times but pike are readily available alone weed edges there is a good amount of bottom structure with big water depth changes, the eyes are found around these. A topo map is a great help here. Have fun

Default Consumption Advisory

Just be aware of the Health Canada advisory for the pike and walleye in Moose. Mercury in there is a problem in case you're not aware.

Just an FYI Moose Lake does not open until June 1st. Early in the season most fish in Franchere Bay. Just be careful there is a rock pile On the south side that is just under the water.

Last time I was at Moose I was going from one end to the other between the two large campgrounds and was diving down the middle of the lake full blast and hit that sand bar , almost went threw the windshield when we came to a stop.it was only knee deep .hate to hit a rock pile .

Thanks guys...I just looked at the regs and it looks like lots of lakes have switched to opening June 1. Guess I have to find something else.

Research is showing that spawning times for Walleye can vary greatly from water body to water body. The intent to have closures on certain water bodies up to June 1st is to help protect the Walleye.

I’ve personally have caught Walleye into the second week of June that are still milking on certain lakes.

Most lakes in the area don't open until June 1st. Cold Lake is open for the May long weekend however, and is only a half hour from Moose.
