I'm surprised no one mentioned tape worms, rabbits are known to carry them especially city wabbits from what I hear. Ill pass on eating them but if I see one I'll shoot it and make me some fuzzy slippers.

Tape worm won't hurt you if they are cooked. LOL Yeah, turns me off to, but the reality is, even the meat we buy in the supermarket can have tape worm. Nothing is inspected 100%.

Rabbit's/Hare are one of those animals we should be extra carefull in cooking.
They can pass on some rather unsavory gifts. Like Pork and Bear.

Oh, and now Deer, with CWD and cows with mad cow disease.

Even raw fish can give you tape worms. Rare meat of any sort is dicy in my opinion.
If it wiggles when I stick a fork in it, it goes back on the fire for a while in my house.

Almost forgot. Yes, I have eaten rabbit. Jacks but not Snowshoe Hare.
I would eat a Snowshoe Hare, just never had the oppertunity.

No just brown in butter with salt and pepper.

Season with your Favorites. I use onion powder, thyme and garlic. And let it slow cook.

I normally do the back legs bone in and take off the back straps. Not much else
For meat on them.

Mmm rabbit...hounds have been watching the 5 Jacks hanging out on the front lawn for the last week. Think our collective cabin fever has reached its pinnacle!

Rabbit - mountain cottontails anyway - are delicious.

Try this site for all kinds of great game recipes. There are some specifically for hares. I've never eaten hare, but I'd sure give it try if I ever see one in a place I can shoot (i.e.: not my back alley)

For sure tape worms in lots of meats, including humans.

There are millions of rabbits in Alberta, just because you can't see them don't mean there's not many around, just look for their trails, they are miniature highways in most bush areas.

I have tried jack rabbit...I found it worked well for supper and breakfast...cause I was still chewing it the next morning. And that was after soaking in milk for a day or 2. The jacks are safe from me, cause I wouldn't eat one again.

I used to happliy eat Winnipeg Railway Rabbits that I snared that would eat the sugar beets falling from the hoppers.

So any kind of wild rabbit would be glorious in a Classy Rabbit Casserole
