Default shore fishing lakes near calgary

Hey all, I have the next couple days free and was hoping to head out and visit some of the larger llakes around calgary to do some shore fishing. Which lakes have decent shore fishing? I was looking at places like pcr, twin valley, travers, etc. They would all be new to me since I usually stick to mointain ponds and creeks when I am in town. Any thoughts on which would be my best place to head for a fun worthwhile day. Don't expect any honeyholes just some input for a newb lol.

If you have the whole day to spend, I personally would zip down to PCR for 2-3 hours (gets pretty boring any longer than that). And then come head due east and hit your choice of Clear lake, Mcgregor, or twin valley. All have reasonably decent shore fishing.

Default Blue-green Algae Advisory

You may want to reconsider Clear Lake & Twin Valley Res due to the current blue-green algae advisory.

Great point! Been targeting trout over the last few weeks and haven't been down there in a while, thanks for raising that.

Both are good lakes for shore fishing but not necessarily the right time.

I have a 14'er with a 25hp tiller but nothing decent to tow it with, my car is parked and my camper van is expensive to drive. If you have a vehicle with a hitch I'm in for a day at any lake around here.

Wish i had a hitch after today. Went to mcgregor for the midday. Too hot. Starting to be a fair bit of algae, especislly when the wind is pushing it all towards you on the shore. No bites at all. Was nice to see the lake without ice though lol. Tomorrow i thikj i will just stick to the reservoir here in the city.
