Default Fire bans for All of Alberta.

Someone just told me they heard fire bans went on for all of Alberta. Anyone got any more info? Should make for bad camping, but fewer people on the sreams/rivers this weekend....

I Just heard on the radio this morning in edmonton, the Fire ban includes burning wood and charcole as well as propane and natural gas appliances.(read BBQ) This includes all public spaces in the city as well. Also if you have a firepit in your backyard it has to be enclosed (grate).

Ya, just heard about fireban on Global news. This sucks! The great part of camping is sitting around the fire visiting with friends and family (and drinking beer which I think is banned in Provincial Parks too).

Drinking beer is generally not banned in Provincial Parks if you are renting a camping spot as it is considered a temporary place of residence. However, quite often some parks do ban alcohol on long weekends due to previous problems (noise, etc.). You have to check and see if the place you are going to has alcohol ban at the time of your camping.
