Default nsr update april 30

though i caught 4 pike, 2 walleye and a burbot, this thread is more about river conditions. water still high but the banks have really hardened up last couple days and are safer to walk on. city of edm. has opened boat launch on 50 street. water is still pretty murky from runoff but cleaner then last week. barring heavy rain or some sort of flood conditions things are shaping up nicely.

I only fish rivers in summer and fall, and mostly catch walleye. Do you target the pike differently then in lakes? You seem to do well with the pike in NSR. Nice work!

I have good luck using leadhead jigs with a big minnow thru the eyes, no rubber body. Spoons and rapalas are prone to snags but if you know what the bottom is like where you are fishing, they are great too. A person can take off the treble hook and put a single barb hook on to avoid some snags.
