Welcome to the site.
First off waterfowl will visit specific areas due to the food source in an area.. Not knowing what will be planted where, and how the crop harvest will go, makes any advice pretty fruitless.

I prefer field shoots as shooting over roosting water results in birds moving right out of the country, and perhaps very few in bound migrating birds filling the void.

Watch the harvest come off, and watch birds going to feed.

Good luck

Edit: you posted in the wrong forum.

I live in Red Deer and have been duck hunting for the last couple of years. I have decoys and a Lab. pm me we can chat a possibly do some hunting together. I've hunted alone alot the last couple of years, mostly on Ducks unlimited or Alberta Conversation sites. Counting down the days until Sept 1.
