Grayling
On my honeymoon this weekend I was able to sneak away and go to quarry pond for a bit, managed to get one nice sized fish on a mosquito fly size 14. They are spawning right now and are more interested in "doing it" than eating but I managed to trick one of them into taking a dry today.

Nice
Nice pic. And congrats by the way
Grayling fishing has quickly become my favorite pass time. I vow to take more pics this summer. A beautiful fish and quite often a co operative quarry

I love fly fishing for Greying, beautiful delicate Trout. Those nets are just the ticket for safe catch and release.

The fish apparently have a better idea of what a honeymoon is for than you do. Sneaking off from your new bride... LOL

This word, along with permit, can't, let are absolutely outlawed regarding a man's outdoor pursuits. Pretty sure it's in the forum rules.
Nice fish

I tend to agree with you, luckily my wife enjoys fishing as much as I do so she's usually game to go just about anytime

I've heard they are quite good to eat, since they are part of the salmon family I can only assume they are good. I've heard the meat can turn very soft if not eaten shortly after catching. I'm only going by what my in laws from NWT have told me, I really don't know from first hand experience

Beautiful grayling. We find many in the Kakwa river and tributaries. They sure do smell strong for such a small, delicate fish. But I've never had the opportunity to harvest and try one. Congrats!

I had a dream job; one Summer; working for the Feds up in the NWT. Fisheries Tech job. One of the biologists taught me how to fly fish. Caught Arctic char, grayling, and Inconnu or as the natives called them Cony. When I came back South I fished in the Swan Hills area until they royally screwed up the streams there. Lived in Ft. McMurray for a while fished the Muskeg River; then the oil companies screwed up that one. It was the best grayling fishing I'd ever experienced. The grayling would take anything out of deer hair; no matter how torn up and ratty they looked!

There's still some pretty good grayling streams in the Edson-Hinton area,McLeod and Athabasca tribs without giving away too much....at least til the oil companies screw them up too?

Grayling in Quarry Lake are stripped of their eggs and milt when the hatchery needs some stock. I haven't seen them do that for a few years.
