Default Brook trout around Edmonton?

Hi all,

Looking to get out and do some ice fishing this weekend with the kids. I mentioned it and my youngest daughter was pumped. I was hoping to get them out after some brook trout as it's something different for them to try. I was looking at the stocking reports on SRD website and it seems the closest to Edmonton is 2.5-3 hour drive each way. Am I missing a closer option here?

PM if you would rather. Thanks!

SS

Unfortunately to my knowledge the closest brookie lake was chickakoo ~6 years ago. But now the closest lakes are the ones you've found. Unless you know someone with a stocked pond, which I'm sorry, I wish I could tell ya one.

Ended up heading out SW with my son today, thanks to some PMd info from an AO'er. Ended up getting 9 brook trout and 7 rainbows in about 5 hours of fishing. Fishing improved when I pulled the Marcum camera up, which was interesting.

Here's the first and last fish of the day.

Bty's ... congrat's!

That's the biggest smile on a A/O youngster that I've seen posted here.

Pleased it all worked out and it was a memorable Brookie/R-Bow Adventure.

Thanks Zip! The boy is happiest when he has a fish on the line, which he often has. Appreciate your help.
