The hook was made of ferrous metal with a sharpened pointed barb-bless end.
They are easy to buy at your favourite fishing tackle shop.

Hate the tip up, no bites on the stupid thing, always tangled up.
Day went like this, woke up at 11am decided to check out Wabamun Lake, was awsome, first one off the bat was 40 inches, 2nd was a 34 inch, the rest were around 22-28 inches, caught tonns up good size perch as well, lost a hog pike that actually snapped my hook in two, i can`t remember the brand but won`t be buying that brand of hook again, even lost a few 3-4 pound whitefish, they love jigs, and dance that type of jig head is actually really good but i was not a fan of the color but still worked out great. All fish were caught and released, had a great time and it was +2 out there.

a fellow tip up hater, welcome to the club I always use a rod and reel for my second line. and first. hate the thought of trying to bring in a huge fish on a handline. I like having 10 fingers

One of the smallest 40 in pikes I have ever seen. Did it even weight 10 lbs?

thats not a pike, thats a snake! 40 inches and 4 pounds, you need to invest in a digital scale with a tape measure built in Shawn. beautiful pics though.

I swear the one I caught out there this summer was thicker than that, a little shorter though, hard to tell from your picture though(mine isn't much better lol). I only figured mine to be 28-30 inches and 8-10 lbs(was the chunkiest pike I have ever caught). Maybe my measurement guestimates are off, really should start measuring them but I never seem to have the tape ready...
For reference that is a #4 len thompson so 5" long.

Still a beauty man, yea measure the fish if you can without hurting the fish, did not weight any fish though.

Good question, how DO the perch survive with all the whites eating them?
