My buddy insists that once the season for archery is over (for moose for example) you can hunt in the rifle season in that WMU only if you have been drawn.
I think that archery season is from the start of the archery season all the way to the end of the rifle season and you don't need a special draw....you can use the general licence.

Yep...your buddy is right. If its a draw season, you NEED that draw....regardless of weapon. So if you hunt the archery season on a general tag, when the draw season opens up, you cannot use that general tag in there at all....
Really I wouldnt say "MOST" zones......tons of mule deer hunting, elk hunting, and moose hunting with general archery tags......but yes...there are some zones that you need a special license for archery season as well.....
